Most natural makeup today consists of ingredients made strictly from organic materials and natural derivatives from the earth. Makeup used to be made from materials that now have been banned by groups like the FDA and the Environmental Working Group. Many of the products banned were known to cause harmful effects to the body. Some of the commercial cosmetics were known to use products like Dibutyl Phthalate, lead acetate, toluene, and petroleum distillates.
Dibutyl Phthalate has now been prohibited for use in cosmetics in Europe because they say that it contains a toxin that is detrimental to human reproduction and development. It is considered to be an endocrine disruptor. This ingredient can be found in many perfumes, hair sprays, and nail polishes. However, it won't be found in natural cosmetics.
Lead Acetate was also banned in Europe for the use in cosmetics because it is known to damage to the reproductive or developmental organs. They warn to stay away from this product, which is found in some nail polishes.
Petroleum Distillates have been banned in Europe also and is known as a human carcinogen. This ingredient is normally found in mascaras, foundations, lipsticks, lip balms, and perfumes and people are advised to stay away from this product.
According to the International Fragrance Association, the ingredient Ethylacrylate contains a human carcinogen also. This ingredient can be found in some mascaras.
Another harmful ingredient that you will never find in natural makeup is coal tar, which is another human carcinogen found in itch creams and hair dyes. It can also be found in dandruff shampoos.
Many people believe that mineral oil is an ingredient for natural makeup, however, it too is known to be linked to cancer. It blocks the pores and slows down skin function. People are advised to avoid and stay away from this product.
Natural makeup doesn't contain any of the dangerous chemicals that can be harmful to the body as those listed above. You can rest assured that with natural makeup you are safe from harming yourself and your skin. Give your skin only the best treatment it deserves.
