Almost every woman puts quite a bit of time into their eye makeup before they go out. The amount of makeup you wear, the color, and the way you wear it all reflects and emulates the type of environment you're going to be in. When you're seen wearing it, you want your gorgeous eyes to attract attention first, and dazzle everyone that's good enough to catch your gaze. I think that a woman's eyes are the most captivating fragment of the whole package, so why not emphasize your eyes even when you're in a casual setting? Here's some of my personal tips on eyeshadow, from color to application. I encourage you to try these techniques and use this advice if you want reveal stopping peepers the next time you're at the grocery store or just hanging out with your partner or family at home.

The biggest mistake a woman can make with eyeshadow and other eye makeup is choosing the wrong color scheme! You would be amazed at how mammoth of a difference just a few shades of color can get for your eyes. Women who have darker eye colors should try and end close to the complementary colors as you can. For brown eyes, either dark or light, I bag that soothing colors complement them best. Mixing brown eyeliner and eyeshadow with brown eyes is dazzling, especially a deep mahogany brown liquid eyeliner with a soft, almost amber brown shimmer eyeshadow. The colors both complement each other, as well as bring out the natural beauty of your mysterious sad eyes. Plums and lavenders are also nice for brown eyes, and go quite well when both of these shades of purple are used together. As always, use a darker liner color than the color you're using for your eyeshadow.

For you ladies with blue eyes, your options are numerous and slim at the same time. Depending on your hair color, you could either earn a statement, or do a big makeup no-no by using similar shade eyeshadows. If you have sunless hair and light blue eyes, wearing blue eyeshadow is a inconvenience. For darker haired women with blue eyes, a subtle orange or gold works well, especially when you're wearing subtly colored clothes. If you've got blond or red hair and blue eyes, then deep blue eyeshadows can actually benefit the look of your eyes. Try wearing a black slimming eyeliner like a feather-tip liquid, and give yourself a sort of cat-eye sway look with deep blue satin eyeshadow on top, only halfway up your lid. This not only brings out the natural color of your eyes, but also brings attention to the sides of your face, which is where your pretty light locks are!

Girls with green eyes and hazel eyes seem to look good in similar shades. Pinks and reds look expansive on green eyes, especially on women with darker hair. For a brunette with green eyes, a soft pink with a hard pink liner underneath your eye is a gorgeous and simple and elegant statement that brings out all the shades that make up your pretty green eyes. Hazel eyes are a big more difficult, but ogle absolutely breathtaking with some simple black liner and a gentle grey or blue-grey on top. Using a regular soft eyeshadow applier, just dab some cool shades and line with dusky for a soft, pretty contemplate that's easy on the eyes of your onlookers as well as your own.

Applying eyeliner and eyeshadow can be a bit tricky when you're not trying to bewitch your time. Since you're not planning anything special, a simple stick eyeliner works wonders. Sharpen it safely if you have to, or if you have a push-up eyeliner, make definite the tip isn't too rounded and thick. Thin, framing lines around your eyes are the perfect inaugurate (and demolish!) to your casual, every day gape makeup routine. Start from the inside and device your way out, and then go the opposite way, lightly, to have in any gaps or even out the line without thickening it. It's not necessary to do the bottom of your contemplate too, but for many discover colors, this look is gorgeous and doesn't take much longer to apply. Once you've got your eyeliner on, settle a color of eyeshadow that looks right for your shade of eyes, and matches with whatever outfit you've chosen to lounge around in that day. (Even if it's unprejudiced a t shirt and sweats, dusky eyeliner matches everything!)

Eyeshadow is simple, and I have a tip to make it even more simple. Take the very tip of your finger and pat the eyeshadow you've chosen very gently. It's important to tap it gently because even after you wash your hands, your fingers preserve oil that will slowly and gradually change the texture and consistency of your eyeshadow. Close your eyes one by one and get close to your mirror, gently dabbing your eyelids and using your finger as an applicator. This is very useful because it's trim quick, and your fingers are perfect smudge tools! Since you're only hanging around casually, you don't want your eyes to explore too offsetting, so the finger application method is perfect for a soft, subtle shade of color. Once you've evened it out along your eyelid, it may be necessary to spend your liner to go over that line on the top just once more.

Finish off with your favorite mascara, and viola! Gorgeous everyday eyes that will wow your husband, impress your neighbors and spark envy in all the other mothers at your child's next soccer game!

A prom is a very special time in a girl's life. Every year an astronomical amount of money is spent on prom dresses, shoes and hair. Everyone wants that perfect once in a lifetime gape. But before you step out on the town, don't forget to glamorize your makeup. It could make or break that special look.

The following six tips will guarantee you that standout look you're after. But remember, making your face look special doesn't mean it needs to look cheap and gawdy. You want to look fresh and flirty, not old and trampy.

First, you need to commence with a light liquid foundation, nothing too heavy or too murky. Stick with a color that compliments your skin tone. Going darker doesn't gain you look tanned, just colorblind. Apply it evenly, blending upward and outward. Don't forget to blend it around your chin and neck.

After your foundation, you'll tackle your eyes. For a more pronounced look, use eyeliner on you upper and lower lids. Draw a thin line, following your lash line as a guide. For a natural examine, exercise a brown or black line to match your eyelashes and eyebrows. For a more dramatic witness, choose a colored liner. Be careful not to earn the line too thick or it will close up your eyes.

After lining your eyes, you'll apply your eye shadow. A popular trend in today's makeup is the luminous frosty eye shadows. These would examine elegant for your special night. Apply the shadow to your lid using a sponge tip applicator. Make sure to apply it to the plot right under your brow also. Then for a shadowing effect, go attend over your crease with a darker shade of the same color. Remember when choosing an sight color, it should compliment your skin color and not clash with your clothes or lip color.

Now that your eyes are sparkling, it's time to spice up your lips. Decide a lip liner color that matches either your lips or your lipstick color. To shape and define your lips, start at the dip in the middle of your lip and outline to the waste. Repeat doing the other side. Then line the lower lip, going from one end to the other. It's optional if you fill in the lip with you lip liner or just let your lipstick do it.

Follow up with your lipstick. For formal occasions, employ a color that is either darker or brighter than your lips. Save your neutral natural colors for your everyday look. After applying your lipstick, blot the excess on a tissue. If you like lip-gloss, go light. Nothing looks worse than having lipstick or lip-gloss all over your cup or your date's cheek.

After your eyes and lips look spectacular, lightly brush a light colored blush on your cheek. Initiate near your nose and sweep outwards to your ears. A light color is all you'll need. You'll supply enough color to your cheeks on your own.

After achieving your desired watch, step out, show off, and have fun!

Creating a perfectly sensual smokey eye is easier than you thought! Follow these 5 steps to master the art of the smokey eye, known as the "little black dress" of makeup!

Step 1: Prime.

If you have never used an eyeshadow primer before, now is the time to start! Shadow primers are made to prevent creasing (the gross lines that can form when eyeshadow clumps together after a few hours of wear) and bring out the true pigment of any color. With a primer you are able to use less product and avoid touch-ups throughout the day. Two of my favorites are Urban Decay's Primer Potion and Benefit's Lemon-Aid. While both are marvelous for priming any shadows, Lemon-Aid has the added benefit of color-correcting your eyelids! Whichever primer you use, it's important to remember that a little bit goes a long way- sweep primer over lids from lash line to crease and under lower lash line as well.

Step 2: Line

Using a black eyeliner (preferably one with a creamy texture, such as Urban Decay's 24/7 Eye Pencil in Zero or Sephora's Nano Eyeliner in Black) draw a line from inner corner to outer corner on top lid, staying close to the lash line. Don't worry about how straight or neat the line is- we're going to smudge it out anyways! Start with one eye first (until you have perfected the look) to prevent the liner from drying before you have time to smudge it. Take a small eyeshadow brush with dense bristles (I suggest Sephora Smudge Brush #14) and blend liner upward, focusing on pulling color up toward the crease. Earn sure the color remains darker at the lash line and fades upward, creating the appearance of a sunset, not a parfait! Repeat this on the other discover, then mimic the application underneath the look. You decide how smokey you want the leer to look on the lower lash line- blend further downward with the liner to create more depth, or simply smudge the liner back and forth to withhold it subtle.

Step 3: Shade

This step allows the liner to fully set in place and give you a more flawless, finished appearance- lift a darkly colored shadow (I prefer dim or deep purple for the most classic look; try Kat Von D's Beethoven Shadow Palette, which features both colors) and apply a small amount to an eyeshadow brush made for blending. Decide a brush that has smaller sized bristles, as we don't want the color to move any higher than your natural crease-line. My favorite is Sephora's Shrimp All-Over Shadow Brush- it has natural bristles to absorb some of your color, and is mild big enough to obtain blending super easy! Tap out excess shadow color and launch applying color to the center of the eyelid, good above the original eyeliner line but not higher than halfway from the crease to lashes. Blend brush back and forth, repeating this step on the other eye. A trick I've learned to acquire blending easier is to stop when the amount of color you want has been deposited, wipe your brush clean with a tissue, and blend in the same area again to move color upward and create more of a faded effect up to the crease. Swipe your Shadow brush under the lower lash line to set liner and enhance the appearance of fading. Remember, sunset, not a parfait!

Step 4: Define

My accepted beauty trick for defining and making eyes of any color pop- lining the inner rim! Sharpen your black eyeliner again (this ensures the eye area will remain clean and not irritated) and draw right along the fleshy share of your top and bottom inner rims, all the way to the inner and outer corners. If it is difficult for you to master this, color the bottom rim a shrimp thicker and blink hard- this moves color to the upper rim and evens out your liner overall. For sensitive eyes or contact lens-wearers, try an eyeliner from a hypoallergenic line, such as Tarte's EmphasEyes High Definition Eye Pencil or the #1S Black Glance Pencil from Korres (another liner sizable for smudging and defining).

Step 5: Finish

Your Smokey Eye cannot be complete without the final step- Mascara! Skip curling lashes, even if you do so regularly. The idea is to fan out the lashes and focus on outer corners, which brightens and opens the eye (curling can sometimes have the opposite effect). Layer as much as your mascara lets you. For extremely thick, dark, long lashes, try my absolute favorite: Sephora's Atomic Volume Mascara in Ultra Black. You won't need to layer more than twice, and the brush has a longer, thin side to pull through any clumps and really separate the lashes. Skip applying mascara to the very inner corner lashes on top and bottom- this can take away from the enact of the sultry smokey eye.

There you have it, 5 Steps to a great look in under 10 minutes! Now that you have mastered your perfect smokey eye, enjoy it! Be proud of your success and awesome talent- your friends will envy you. Remember the most important rule of the Smokey Eye- it doesn't have to be perfect! Don't get caught up in being a perfectionist. Even the most talented makeup artists can obtain stuck trying to invent a perfectly even smokey eye.

Wearing eyeliner is like a quick pick-me-up. It can instantly revive and change your appearance. The tricky part is deciding what application (pencil, cream, etc.) works best for you and, more importantly, how to keep your makeup from smudging, rubbing, fading or spreading to other parts of your eyelid throughout the day. And, let's face it, no one wants to shell out tons of money for something that you end up taking off at the end of the day anyway.

Barring the expensive surgery to have permanent eyeliner, there are many tricks and products that can either help you make your eyeliner last all day or are ample enough alone to last all day. Here are a few of my own tried and tested tips.

Foundation: Like the foundation that you achieve on the rest of your face, a good foundation patted onto your eyelid, is a good idea if you consume a regular pencil eyeliner application. A liquid foundation is the best, but you have to make sure that it matches your skin color. Otherwise, you ruin up looking like you are wearing a nude color eye shadow, and it may look odd.

If using liquid/wet foundation, consume a sponge applicator to pat the foundation onto your eyelid. Obtain sure the foundation is completely dry before lining your eye. If you're not sure what to get, try Benefit's creamy shadow/liner, which is about $19 at Sephora.

If you are using a power foundation, pressed powder is better than loose powder, only because you have greater control of where the power ends up going. With loose power, you're bound to seek like you are wearing skin color eye shadow.

After Lining Your Lids: After applying the eyeliner to your eyes, translucent loose powder is an extra precaution to get sure that your liner stays on. You can put a light smattering of powder on your eyeliner and peek lid for an extra seal of protection. Expend an sight shadow brush as opposed to the freebie applicators you get with eye shadow compacts. The brush allows a more even distribution of powder and looks a lot more natural.

Black eye shadow is another step you can take after lining your lids. Instead of using translucent powder, obtain an eye shadow color that matches your eyeliner color exactly, and just put it directly on top of the eyeliner to seal it in dwelling. Black and brown colors are obviously the easiest to rep.

Blush: No, really. Find a rose- or terra cotta-colored blush and you have a base for your eyeliner that also doubles as a not too heavy eye shadow. It ends up giving you a cramped color, but doesn't over power the search for liner. Plus, blush powder is oftentimes lighter than eye shadow, and the free blush brush you usually get with drug store blushes, is a noble applicator to use for your lid.

Markers: Well, not literally, but eyeliner applicators that are similar to markers, are some of the best products around because they withhold your eyeliner on your eyes. If you're not familiar with this type of product, the applicator is basically like a marker. You are essentially drawing a line around your eyelid and lower lash line. They're relatively easy to use, but you should practice before actually going out.

If you want to try a marker-like eyeliner applicator, try Conceal Girl's Line Exact. The tip is very fine and you can find this for around $7 at any drug store.

Dust your eyes with loose power, and then apply the eye liner. Preserve your lids open by tilting your head back and looking down at the same time. Remain this way until the liner is completely dry.

With something like this, make sure to put on a bare eyelid. If mixed with anything powdery, the powder adhered to the applicator and then the liner comes out unevenly or doesn't come out at all.

Liquid: Liquid eyeliner are similar to pen/marker eyeliner in that once they dry, you are pleasant to go all day. It will not budge. The downside is that you have to be able to master the applicator, which isn't brain surgery, but you don't have the same control as you would a pencil eyeliner.

With liquid products, definitely still do a light dusting of loose powder or concealer on your lid and corners of your peer before application.

Waterproof: Another way to go, is waterproof eyeliner. MAC's Liquidlast eyeliner is great. It's waterproof and will get your through the day. Plus, it doesn't get all cakey once it has dried and is on you lid for a couple of hours like some of the marker/liquid inspect liner products out there. It stays smooth all day.
