If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Teen Trend Magazine is the newest magazine on the market for teenagers.  Appealing to both guys and girls, ages 12 – 18, Teen Trend Magazine is setting a higher standard for teen magazines around the world.  Teen Trend is sticking with the idea of encouraging wholesome and positive images to teenagers, and will be bringing the Teen Trend Magazine Prom Showcase Series to cities nationwide.

The first venue for this series is lovely Danfords on the Sound, located in Port Jefferson, NY.  The event, known as the Teen Trend Magazine Premier Prom Showcase, will be held on December 5th from 6:00pm – 9:00pm in the upstairs of Danfords. Attendees will be treated to a fashion show, featuring dresses from Alyce Designs, tuxedos from After Hours, hairstyles by HairSpray Salon in Nesconset, makeup by Emily Margulis, accessories by Claire’s, and powerful more.  Pop singer Ashley Gomez will be performing her first live performance of “Go Get It”.

Teen celebrity Hunter Gomez (of Family Guy and National Treasure fame) will also be at the Premier Prom Showcase, acting as co-emcee with Teen Trend’s Editor-in-Chief, Candice Cain.  Furthermore, Hunter appears on the Dec/Jan cover of Teen Trend, a copy of which will be given to everyone in attendance.  Hunter will be available for pictures and autographs all throughout the event.

“The best thing about these events,” says publisher Juliette Marotta, “is that Teen Trend uses real teenagers to model the clothes for prom.  We actually carry that over to the models in the magazine, and expend real teenagers for all of our articles.”  Students from Bellport High School and Longwood High School will be modeling in the Prom Showcase Series.  Each student was selected by Cain and Marotta, and have a wholesome image in their respective schools and communities.

“I think it’s cool, because not a lot of people have the opportunity to do something like this,” says Bellport High School Junior Billy Bradford, who is one of the models. “I like this magazine because it’s not like any other magazine out there.  Instead of using all beautiful and unrealistic teenagers, Teen Trend uses normal teens from regular high schools. I can really relate to that.”

Teen Trend Magazine has partnered with the Gomez Family Food Drive to present the Premier Prom Showcase Food Drive Contest. All teens attending the showcase are encouraged to bring as many non-perishable food items as they can.  The first, second and third highest amounts will each receive a prize.  Third place will receive a $25 Border’s Books gift card.  Second place will receive a $50 gift card to JC Penney.  The first place winner will not only receive a $100 Best Buy gift card, but will also appear in an upcoming issue of Teen Trend Magazine.  Winners must be present to receive their prize.  Information on how to participate in the Premier Prom Showcase Food Drive is available on the Teen Trend Magazine website, and will also be sent to everyone that registers.

Women’s Fall Hairstyle Trends for 2009

One of the best things about being a woman is being able to delight in the different variety of clothes, makeup and the different ways we can style and sever our hair. If you’re like a lot of other women, you probably try to hold up with the different fashion and hair trends around the world. You might also like to see the different trends from season to season. Here is a look at some 2009 fall hair trends for women.

Our first hairstyle trend that is bound to be very well-liked by fall is the bob. The bob is usually a classic, shorter cut around the length of the chin. There are a few different ways you can do your hair in a bob. Some famous celebrities who have gone with the bob style themselves are actresses such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Eva Longoria. First we have our classic bob. This is usually done in all the same length around the chin. You can add a cramped extra something to this contemplate by adding some cute high-lights to your hair. This style is not only cute and trendy, but also very easy to take care of. If you like a bit more length to your hair, you can opt for a shoulder length bob with longer layers in the front. This is a very sophisticated look and you can easily wear it to a formal event or out shopping. If you want to glam up your bob, you can always put it up in hot curlers or use a curling iron to give it a fancy, formal look. This will give your hair style a very classic, retro look. If you choose to go with a bob haircut, some important advice is to rob in a picture of what you would like your own hair to look like. If you have a certain celebrity you want your hair modeled after, you can usually find pictures of them online or in a hair-style magazine.

Our next trendy fall hair-style is the straight and sleek look. This style works well with many different face-shapes and you’ve probably seen it worn by celebrities such as Jennifer Anniston. To get this look, wash and condition your hair as normal. You can blow-dry your hair as normal or towel-dry and let it dry naturally. For extra shine, you can add some shine serum to your hair. Next, you will want to consume a straightening iron. You can find these at beauty supplies stores and some larger chain stores, or perhaps your celebrated beauty salon might have some for sale. This style is great because it looks great on all different hair colors and can be ancient to any event.

Our third style is the basic long and wavy look. To get this style if you have normally straight hair, you should wash and condition your hair as normal and blow dry it or let it dry naturally. Then you should expend a large barrel curling iron or larger hot curlers. To withhold the wavy look in place, add some gel or medium strength hairspray. This will help keep the frizz away and yet maintain the waves in place. If you want a more permanent look, you can always talk to your beautician about getting a perm to keep this style for a longer period of time. Gain sure to bring in a portray of what you would like, so they know what style you are aiming for.

Lastly, bright hair colors are going to be huge this fall. Glamorous reds are getting to be very popular. You can also try shiny brunette colors and platinum blond colors. If you go to your beauty salon you should talk to them about which color would compliment you and your style. If you choose to do the color yourself at home with a dye kit, form sure and follow the directions correctly, and always do the strand test they recommend doing.

Four Fall 2009 Makeup Looks

4. Metallic Eyes

Tommy Hilfiger’s models showed classic, metallic eyes earlier this season. To replicate M.A.C. Cosmetics’ look for the catwalk, brush a warm bronzer (M.A.C. Refined Golden Bronzer, $21.00) just underneath the cheekbone to contour the face. Apply a shimmery gold shadow over the eyelids and blend a copper shade into the crease, then line the bottom lashline with a smudge of brown kohl (M.A.C. Powersurge Eye Kohl, $14.50). Finish with a dauntless swipe of mascara (M.A.C. Pro Lash Mascara in Black or Charcoal Brown, $12.00) on the top and bottom lashes, and blend a subtle pink color into cheeks and lips.

Well-defined faces also dominated this season’s runways. Apply full-coverage foundation to the face to even skin tone, and pair smoky eyes with defined cheekbones to capture M.A.C. Cosmetics’ runway looks for Rodarte. Open with an even covering of M.A.C. Face and Body Foundation, $32.00, and perfect the face by dusting on a matte mineral powder (M.A.C. The trend toward strong, natural eyebrows appears again in the fall 2009 lineups. To achieve the runway looks, allow the beefy brow to re-grow. Then dust a light powder over the part of the brow covering its natural arch, and carefully pull the few hairs that drop outside the powdered outline. Further explain brows with a finishing powder to match your hair color, like M.A.C. Eye Brows in Lingering, $14.50.

1. Blue Smoky Eyes

Nicole Miller dominated the catwalk with deep blue eyes. To mimic her sophisticated blue-lidded looks, blend a deep blue shadow (M.A.C. Deep Blue Green Pigment, $19.50) from the lid to the crease of the eye, and cover with a lighter, shimmery blue shadow (M.A.C. Aquadisiac Observe Shadow, $14.50) up to the brow bone. Refine the perceive by finishing with one coat of mascara. Draw attention to the eyes by leaving the rest of the face natural, with only a light brushing of sheer powder to cover any blemishes.

Natural Looking Wedding Makeup

Brides often say that they want to look natural for their wedding day makeup. This does not mean little or no makeup. Remember that few people are truly flattered by being in a full white gown and having a white veil on their head (think of how gray or white hair distracts from ones face) so if you are wearing white or ecru or ivory, it is important to wear makeup so that your skin is not completely washed out.

Don’t believe me? Take off all your makeup and find the biggest mirror you can rep. Now seize a white sheet and drape it over your shoulders to emulate how powerful white will be surrounding your face and body. Add natural sunlight to see what your outside photos will seek like without makeup. Now if you are considering wearing your hair up, as most brides do, pin aid your hair. This is you without makeup on your wedding day. Do I need to go on? Action must be taken. Yes, you will have that bridal glow, but you still need to draw attention to your face. And, you need a understanding to cover pimples or breakouts if you have too much wedding stress.

This does not mean that you have to resort to bright unnatural colors or colors that match the bridesmaids’ dresses. Often shades of pink and peach, beige and gold can warm the skin without looking too flashy or like you are going clubbing. You can also wear colors that are fair the most flattering to you if done with a light touch and blended carefully. If you normally do not wear these colors, some experimentation is necessary. Clinique makes an excellent line of softer colors that still are pigmented enough to not wash you out.

A makeup practice bustle is mandatory. Consider bring a digital camera and taking many photos so you can choose how this works. Wear a blouse that emulates the color and style of your dress (such as a tank top or spaghetti strap white t-shirt) so you can get a sense of how your makeup looks with that much bear shoulder skin and your hair up. Take pictures from all angles and bring a picture of your dress. A practice bustle is usually cheap or complimentary when a wedding day makeup package is booked. Think about doing this trial hasten before your engagement party to try out your look and to get pictures back to decide if you like that look or not. You will get feedback from others. Even if you do not have your engagement party after this trial run, make clear to do something so you can gauge the makeup job – go out to eat, take pictures at the beach, do something to assess how the makeup looks. Softer colors do make you look younger and more dewy. You might change your standard makeup to be less based in high pigmented blacks such as a black liner might be swapped out for a softer green or brown smudged softly so there is a defined line but not necessarily a dismal line. This will calm draw attention and frame the eye without harsh colors. A softer lipstick shade is likely a better wedding option. A good foundation is necessary to cover last minute breakouts, hives or any imperfections. This makeup can stare very natural while still playing up your features.

Be prepared to answer the stylists questions about the fabric and formality of your wedding gown, the lighting of the reception (will be be candlelit? Will you be outdoors? ) What makeup do you always wear that is your signature look and what makeup do you never wear? Is the ceremony going to be a very sunny place or mostly artificial lighting? A daytime wedding will examine more natural, a nightime is often more formal. Remember you will need to have your makeup last for up to ten hours between the pre-wedding photos with your family, to the cutting the cake photos and tossing the bouquet.

You will want to determine your hairstyle as well at this time and you do not want any surprises there either. My college roommates’ best feature is her shiny long thick black hair; it is that sort of murky that is almost blue in its luster, like a cartoon femme fatale. It would be hard to mess up a straight style, but she did want someone else to style a simple blowout, like her hair but a bit sleeker and more polished. The morning of her wedding, a stylist she did not know came and did her hair, the bride thanked her, the stylist left, and the bride announced she hated it and combed it out in a panic in the time she had allocated to do her makeup. She did not have enough time to re-wash and dry her hair before the ceremony, so her normally soft, full, shiny hair looked weighed down with product and not bright at all. If she did a trial accelerate, this would not have happened. Bring your mask and headpiece and when you find a style you like, take photos and ask for that sincere look again. Price around at salons you like – this can run from $75 to $500 depending on the services involved.

Some do it yourself bridal makeup tips to be aware of is to select lipstick colors that make the teeth look whiter (bluetones not yellows) and waterproof mascara are important. Long lasting lipstick or lipstains like Urban Decay inks finish put through eating and kissing and drinking.

Is the back of your neck ready to be seen by the world? This is an area we normally skip with moisturizer or sunscreen and generally your hair covers at least part of your neck. It is a obedient time to assess if you will need to start to moisturize, if you need to remove any stray hairs (waxing those hairs well below your hairline is actually a common salon process) Consult the salon that is doing any manicures, hair conditioning, or pedicures in advance of the wedding to see what areas could use a spruce that you may have overlooked. Waxing and bleaching areas on your arms you may not notice on yourself may be necessary since you are baring so much upper back area and everyone has diminutive hairs on their befriend and shoulders. To get a smooth look you may need to exfoliate and prepare this skin.

Simple Makeup Ideas to Make You Shine at Prom

Prom is your special day, and everything has to be perfect, suitable? This does not always happen, because we do not live in a perfect world, but here are a few prom makeup tips that can wait on make your prom as perfect as possible!

First when deciding what make up to wear to prom I beget the best choice you can make is lips or eyes. Once you decide which one you would like to accentuate half the battle is over. It is important to pick one or the other because you do not want to overdue your make up and raze up looking too dramatic. If you choose to highlight your lips, grasp a dark burgundy, a bright red or a dark mauve. Make sure whatever color you pick matches your dress because you want to accent your lips not gain them stand out. If you are going with darker lips manufacture distinct to use light eye makeup. I find that gold goes well with burgundy and red lipstick, and peach tones go well with mauve or brown lipsticks. If you choose your eyes you may like to match your gape shadow to your dress or just use plain old black; either can have a very pleasing affect. When you are going with dark eyes make sure to employ a muted lipstick or a light lip gloss.

No matter what part of your face you choose to accentuate when doing your prom execute up, it is valuable to use mascara. If the eyes are the window to the soul you definitely want them to have some pretty curtains. Remember during prom you are likely to be dancing up a storm, and you might even shed some tears so make certain to get waterproof mascara because it will last you all night and into the after party.

Pictures are a must when you are attending prom and you don’t want your prom makeup to study bad in pictures. It is important to touch up your make up and reapply lip liner and lipstick before you are planning on taking pictures if you want them to come out perfect. So always use a mirror when reapplying your prom makeup.

Skin tone is an important part of our prom makeup that many over gaze. I am not saying go out and lather your face with concealer because that will not be fun, but you should use a little finishing powder to give yourself an even tone. Make distinct to pay attention to your cheeks, nose, and forehead when applying because these are the areas that will get greasy first. It is also important if you do choose to use foundation to blend it in well at your jaw line and neck.

Another part of prom makeup that is easy to forget but very well-known is what you bring in your purse. Extra lipstick, gloss, eyeliner, and mascara are always good to have as wait on ups, and it is also important to bring some finishing powder if you start to sweat a little. I also brought some candy, deodorant, and blotters to my prom. These are handy because you never know what will happen.

With these tips your prom should be a smashing success, and you will be the bell of the ball!

10 Budget Friendly Wedding Makeup Tips

Wedding makeup trends have not changed much in a number of years. Regardless of the current fashion trends, wedding makeup remains, simple, natural, and beautiful.

Using Bobbi Brown Bridal Face Palette ( see the link at the end of the article to see it.) you can create the popular makeup look like the one worn by Avril Levinge on her wedding day. http://www.instyleweddings.com/weddings/cp/general/photos/0,,20163217_20166790_20381969,00.html
This is a budget top-notch wedding makeup look you can create it your own. Start with a clean face. If you are using mineral make up put a dusting of the mineral veil as a primer, especially if your skin is oily. Apply your foundation, making sure to gather your ears and neck. Remember pictures tend to wash you out, so wear it heavier than usual, just be sure to blend well. Next apply your finishing powder. Apply the the blush in French Pink. If possible have another darker shade of blush too, for contouring, and creating more depth that one shade can not provide. Apply the Petal Shimmer Wash to the lower lid. Take a 2inch by one inch fragment of paper, or just something with a straight edge. Use this to create the perfect shadow line. Hold the paper at an angle lining up with the outer eye and the end of the eyebrow. Load your behold brush with the Smokey Peep Shadow. Rub the brushing along the paper so some of the shadow is getting on the paper and also creating a straight edge on your eye. Now hold a paper just under your eye to catch falling eye shadow, and trace the crease of your lid with the smoky eye shadow. Apply the more of the petal shimmer wash to the brow. Apply your lipsticks that approach with the palette. Top with gloss. Be sure to do a trial race and bewitch pictures so you can really see how heavy your makeup needs to be to show up in photos.

Neutral tones and natural pinks are the norm for wedding makeup. But you can also play with muted tones also, you can try a dark plum color, like bear minerals Passionate Plum, from Bare Escentuals. Check out the link to Sephora at the end of the article. What ever colors you choose for your wedding makeup, make sure you get a nice set of makeup brushes. The do you want to make is nearly impossible to achieve with the applicators that come with your eyeshadow.

If you can start 2-3 weeks in arrive. You can start doing a budget beauty homemade microdermabrasion treatment. Add 1 tbsp of baking soda to a small dish with 11/2 tsp of water. Dip your finger tips in the bowl, and begin massaging the skin with small circles, continuing to dip fingers for more of the mixture until its all on your face. Continue massaging all over your face with small circles for 10 minutes. This can be repeated 1 or twice a week for an carry out that is similar to those you get in the salon. I have included a link at the end of the article, about how to do a shiatsu facial massage which is supposed to give a nice lift to the face.

Be sure to pluck your eyebrows and wax or Nair your lip the night before, so you don’t have redness or irritation from these products.

If you have always had trouble finding your perfect foundation makeup color, its not difficult. Look at the inside of your arm, if your veins have a blue cast, then you need a warm foundation with pink tones. If your veins present green, you need a neutral color with yellow undertones. If you cant remark what color your veins might be, you can use either, warm or neutral as you wish. If you are using a mineral makeup these are very forgiving, so if you get a shade lighter or darker you can blend and composed look great.

Do an at home tooth whitening, using strawberries! Yes you can get results rivaling those of the expensive kits. Mash one strawberry, and wander in 1/2 tsp baking soda. Brush your teeth well with this mixture for about 5 minutes, continuing to add more of the strawberry mixture as you go. Allow the mixture to sit on your teeth for 5 more minutes. Brush as normal and rinse well. This can done once a week.

Do a water retention releasing detox bath, peruse the instructions in my Homemade Beauty: Stay Pretty on the Cheap article.

Start applying cuticle conditioners, and keep you nails painted for a few weeks before the wedding. Be certain to do your toes and heels too.

Top 5 Funny Celebrity Nicknames

Many people have branded celebrities with nicknames that fit their actions, characters and personalities. Some of them are original and unique while others are a bore. Here are my five favorite nicknames for A-list female celebrities.

Parasite Hilton (Paris Hilton)
This is my absolute favorite celebrity nickname. My guess is Paris Hilton was dubbed as Parasite Hilton because she infests everything, much like a parasite. Paris has been featured on newscasts, newspaper headlines, entertainment gossip shows, web sites, and magazines for years now. She seems to be getting more and more popular, but not necessarily in a good way. It is rare I can stand in line at the check-out counter, turn on the television, or visit a celebrity gossip site without seeing something about Paris Hilton. She seems to be everywhere!

HoHan (Lindsay Lohan)
My assumption that Lindsay Lohan received this glorious nickname is due to her being videotaped or photographed always going out with a new guy. I have read so many articles and seen way too many pictures of her making out and canoodling with a new guy. HoHan just seems so fitting!

MiserAlba (Jessica Alba)
This nickname is priceless. Have you ever noticed Jessica Alba never smiles and looks absolutely miserable in all the pictures taken by paparazzi? Definite, I would hate being followed everywhere I go, but it seems like a photographer can never earn the girl sneaking in a smirk. Luckily, being pregnant seems to have made her a little less miserable and we accept to see a different side to her, which includes a couple smirks here and there.

Fuggie Fug (Fergie)
I am pretty sure Fergie is called Fuggie Fug because of how she looks in photographs taken by paparazzi. She is blooming on video but looks like a wax figure in pictures. She wears too much makeup, probably has had too many botox injections, and always has such a surprised look on her face. I think Fuggie Fug might be a bit cruel, but she is definitely not attractive in the majority of her photographs.

Chestica Simpson (Jessica Simpson)
Can you figure out why Jessica is called Chestica? She was branded with Chestica because of her large breasts that she claims to be right. I think this nickname is humorous but perfect for Jessica. She has such a large chest that your eyes go straight for it and barely notice anything else. It doesn’t help she wears clothing that leaves little to the imagination.

What to Do When Your Makeup Expires

Unlike food that has as distinct and noticeable smell when it goes bad, cosmetics display few signs when they have passed up their usability. If you are wondering if your makeup expiration date will effect the way your makeup is traditional then read on. We have your answers here.

Signs your makeup has expired

1. If your mascara or foundation has become lumpy there is a good chance that they have expired. At the least they have passed up their ability to be useful. Lumpy or clumpy makeup will apply in an un-uniform manner. Mascara can be extremely dangerous if obsolete passed its expiration date. Expired makeup can cause infections and irritations around the eyes and lips around the application points.

2. Lip gloss, and lipstick may gain a foul smell once it has expired. If your lip gloss or lipstick is more than 3 months old you need to be careful. These 2 products are conventional on some of the germ infested places on the body and therefore need to be changed frequently. If your makeup expiration date has passed on these products you need to get sure and replace them because they can become toxic and make you very sick.

3. Does your makeup study passe or has it changed its appearance? This can often occur when makeup goes through varying heat cycles. Perhaps you leave your purse in the car during a deep freeze or a hot summer day. These temperatures can mercurial extinguish your makeup. If your makeup looks old just dispose of it.

4. Your makeup expiration date may have already advance and gone if your makeup no longer applies to your face the way that it used to. Old makeup will clump on the applicator and apply unevenly on the face. If your makeup has changed in the way it looks when it is applied then there is a good chance your makeup has expired. Foundation that appears powdery and allows your face to shine after only a few minutes needs to be destroyed.

5. If your makeup expiration date is near your makeup will appear dry, cracked, powdery. Do not try to revitalize old makeup as you can ruin the makeup. Makeup that has passed its prime should be thrown away immediately.

Most women I know have a drawer full of old makeup and just can’t find it within themselves to throw it away. Using cosmetics past their prime can cause infections, rashes, and other skin irritations. If your makeup expiration date has come and passed the best thing you can do is throw your makeup away and go buy some new, fresh and dated makeup. Happy shopping.

Three New Makeup Looks to Try

Every woman has their absorb personal “tried and true” makeup routine, right? They usually have favorites and must have items too. A well-liked mascara, a particular color of lipstick, you know the drill. Women tend to buy what they know works and use it in a way that they know is best, which is a logical and normal way of doing things. To me, the same veteran “1 coat of mascara, blush on the apples, and go” routine is rather…boring. Experiment a diminutive, girls! Eye shadows reach in more than one color for a reason, true? Be creative and punch up your basic makeup application and you may be pleasantly surprised by what you get. You might even want to swap some shades to get a new look all together. If you’re not that daring, just add tiny touches to take away some of the blandness. I present you with 3 new looks that may or may not tickle your fancy but if in fact you are a routine worshiping woman, try at least one of these and see if it suits you. Feel free to give or take, as long as it’s “you.” Remember: Enhance and create, don’t hide and settle for the normal!

Look # One: Natural

I’d like to think of this look as beachy. It’s very earthy and clean and goes well with loose waves.

1. Apply foundation as normal but apply the loose powder sparingly. It will make you look “too done.”

2. Apply one coat of brown mascara to top lashes. Stay away from those bottom lashes! If you put mascara on them, they’ll appear bold and unnatural. You may curl the top lashes if you feel your eyes seem too naked. Sweep a light olive green eyeshadow on you lids and under the bottom lashes, if desired.

3. Unexcited feeling naked? Draw a very thin line of brown eyeliner on your top lash bed. Get as close as possible to the bed. For a smoky study, rub brown shadow along the liner.

4. Coat your lips with a thick lip balm and dab sparkly gold eyeshadow on them. This will give you slight shimmer and a pretty look at the same time.

Examine # Two: Sophisticated

If you’re a natural type of girl, this bold and sharp look will be quite the experience!

1. Apply foundation as usual and top with a lighter shade of loose powder for a unusual, smooth look.

2. Put on 3 coats of black mascara and curl the lashes. Apply a silvery gray eyeshadow from your lid to your brow bone.

3. Line the inner corner of your eyes only with dismal eyeliner. It’ll make your eyes more edgy.

4. Apply a warm, red lipstick and a distinct gloss, if desired.

Look # 3: Chic

Alas, my last look, but it certainly is a boho-like one!

1. Set on 2 coats of mascara and 1 coat on the bottom lashes. Sweep a matte gray shadow over the lids.

2. With a black Kohl pencil, gently sweep top lashes and smudge with a q-tip. If desired, do the same with bottom lashes but compose it lighter by using a gray Kohl.

3. Apply a nude gloss and there you go!
